ART 1010 - Experiencing the Arts

This course is designed to introduce students to the fine and performing arts as experiences that contribute to human, social, and cultural understanding; provide entertainment; and foster lifelong learning. Selections from the fine and performing arts will be explored as a means of articulating experiences and to whet the appetite for further study and exploration of the arts. Influences, trends, references, connections, and associations among the arts in a designated era will be studied. Students shall receive a foundation in basic principles, concepts and standards, and also develop a personal “catalog” of artists and works.
